Dr. Sandra Hamilton

While taking pre-med classes at the University of California, Santa Barbara, I became so distracted by psychology courses that I changed my major to pursue a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. I had the privilege of working with Beverly Fagot, Ph.D., John Reid, Ph.D. and Robyn Dawes, Ph.D., at the Department of Psychology, University of Oregon, and feel much gratitude for their instruction and support.

Two daughters later, and over 20 years since my licensure, I have maintained my independent psychotherapy practice. It is an honor to work with people from all walks of life who have worked hard to heal their wounds and change their lives. I admire the strength they show each time they schedule another session in the face of painful insights and difficult feelings.

Therapy is not a haircut. It’s not a quick fix, and you don’t always feel better when you leave.

My upcoming book addresses both the practical skills necessary to manage change as well as the mystery of our connection to ourselves and others.
